It’s important to note that the advantages of rare breed triggers may vary depending on the specific model, manufacturer, and individual preferences. Before purchasing a rare breed trigger, it is essential to research and ensure compatibility with your firearm, comply with legal regulations, and consider factors such as safety, reliability, and your own shooting needs and preferences.

Disadvantages of Rare Breed Trigger

While rare breed triggers offer numerous advantages, it’s important to consider potential disadvantages as well. Here are some disadvantages to be aware of:

  1. Limited Availability and Higher Cost: Rare breed triggers are often produced in limited quantities or custom-made, resulting in limited availability. This scarcity can make them more challenging to acquire and potentially drive up their cost. Compared to standard triggers, rare breed triggers tend to be more expensive due to their exclusivity, craftsmanship, and the demand from collectors and enthusiasts.
  2. Compatibility and Fitment: Rare breed triggers may not be universally compatible with all firearm models or platforms. It’s crucial to ensure that the trigger you choose is specifically designed to work with your firearm. Failure to do so could result in compatibility issues, unreliable performance, or even potential safety concerns. Thorough research and consultation with experts or manufacturers are essential to ensure proper fitment.
  3. Legal and Regulatory Considerations: Depending on your jurisdiction, there may be specific laws and regulations governing the acquisition, installation, and use of rare breed triggers. These laws can vary significantly, and it’s crucial to understand and comply with the applicable regulations. Failure to do so can lead to legal consequences or even the illegality of owning or using certain types of rare breed triggers.
  4. Reduced Aftermarket Support: Unlike standard triggers that are widely available and supported by a robust aftermarket, rare breed triggers may have limited aftermarket support. This can make it more challenging to find replacement parts, accessories, or support for maintenance and repairs. It’s important to consider the long-term availability of components and ongoing support before investing in a rare breed trigger.
  5. Potential Quality Variations: Since rare breed triggers are often produced in smaller quantities or by specialized manufacturers, quality control can vary. While reputable manufacturers strive for excellence, there may be instances where certain rare breed triggers do not meet the expected standards of reliability, durability, or consistent performance. Thorough research, reviews, and recommendations can help mitigate this potential risk.
  6. Limited Functionality Options: In some cases, rare breed triggers may offer unique features that are not compatible with certain shooting disciplines or preferences. For example, a trigger designed specifically for competitive shooting may not be suitable for self-defense purposes due to its specialized characteristics. It’s important to consider your intended use and shooting requirements when selecting a rare breed trigger.
  7. Potential Overemphasis on Aesthetics: Rare breed triggers are often admired for their visual appeal and unique designs. However, the emphasis on aesthetics can sometimes overshadow other essential factors such as functionality, reliability, and ergonomics. It’s important to prioritize the performance and practical aspects of a trigger to ensure it meets your shooting needs.

When considering a rare breed trigger, it’s essential to weigh these potential disadvantages against the benefits and make an informed decision based on your specific requirements, budget, and legal considerations. Thorough research, consultation with experts, and understanding your own shooting preferences will help you navigate the potential drawbacks and find the right rare breed trigger for your firearm.

how does a rare breed trigger work

The operation and functionality of a “rare breed trigger” would depend on the specific design and features of the trigger in question. Without specific details about the trigger you are referring to, it is challenging to provide a precise explanation. However, I can offer a general overview of how triggers typically work in firearms.

A trigger is a mechanism that initiates the firing sequence of a firearm. It is usually located within the trigger guard and is manipulated by the shooter’s finger. When the trigger is pulled, it performs a series of actions that ultimately release the firearm’s firing mechanism, allowing the firearm to discharge.

Here are the basic components and functions of a typical firearm trigger:

1. Trigger Shoe: The trigger shoe is the part of the trigger that the shooter’s finger rests on. It provides a surface for the shooter to apply pressure when pulling the trigger.

2. Trigger Bar: The trigger bar is a linkage mechanism that connects the trigger shoe to the sear or hammer of the firearm. When the trigger is pulled, the trigger bar transfers the force to the sear or hammer.

3. Sear: The sear is a small, spring-loaded component responsible for holding the hammer or striker in the cocked position. When the trigger is pulled, the sear releases the hammer or striker, allowing it to strike the firing pin or initiate the firing sequence.

4. Hammer or Striker: The hammer or striker is the component that delivers the impact necessary to ignite the primer or initiate the firing sequence. The hammer is typically used in hammer-fired firearms, while the striker is common in striker-fired firearms.

5. Safety Mechanisms: Many firearms have built-in safety mechanisms integrated into the trigger system. These mechanisms are designed to prevent the trigger from being pulled accidentally or unintentionally and to ensure safe handling and operation of the firearm.

It’s important to note that different firearms and trigger designs may have variations in their specific mechanisms and components. Additionally, certain rare breed triggers may incorporate unique features or enhancements that modify the trigger pull weight, trigger travel, reset, or other characteristics to improve performance or provide a specialized shooting experience.

To understand how a specific rare breed trigger works, it would be necessary to refer to the manufacturer’s documentation, user manuals, or product specifications for that particular trigger.
